“My husband wants a divorce after 31 years, but wants us to stay in the same house for the kids” – The Blindspot.
There are many complications when it comes to divorce especially when there’s property and children involved. It is significant to remember that in a community of property marriage, the couple’s assets are part of the joint estate and have to be divided upon the court’s issuance of a divorce decree.
Anonymous reached out to the Best T In The City to seek advice on the Blindspot, where she needed advice on what she must do after her husband of 31 years filed for divorce and made a request for them to remain in their marital home for the sake of the kids.
“After 31 years of marriage, my husband has filed for divorce. Yes, things haven’t been that great, and never in a million years did I imagine that our marriage was headed for divorce. I decided that I would grant him his wishes. Now, hubby says he doesn’t want us to sell the house and that we should carry on living in the house for the sake of our sons.”
“Our sons are 30 and 21 years old, and I say if we are going to continue staying together, why should we go ahead with the divorce? I just ask myself what is going to happen when our youngest decides he wants to leave the house? Are we going to continue living in the house? Is there something I am failing to understand here?
