Anonymous shares that her mother-in-law kicked her out when she was down and out

A listener shared that her mother-in-law kicked her out after her husband spent all of his money.
She managed to rent a backroom and lived there while rebuilding her life.
Recently, she was approved for a bond and wanted to hold a small thanksgiving ceremony to celebrate her achievement. However, her husband is insisting on inviting his mother, despite the mistreatment she endured.
“After 10 years living with my in-laws, my mother-in-law eventually kicked me out. Things were fine at first, but after my husband was declared medically unfit, she turned against me. He blew his payout on cars, clothes, and outings with his family instead of securing our future.
“When I suggested paying off debts to buy a house, he refused, saying we couldn’t leave his mother. He said we couldn’t leave his mother alone and that the house was practically his, so there was no need to buy one. Eventually, his money ran out, and in 2022, Mamazala even got a protection order against me.
“I moved out and rented a backroom, and to my surprise, my husband followed me. I kept working on my debts, and earlier this year, I was finally approved for a bond and managed to buy a home.
“It’s been a few months now, and I wanted to celebrate with a small Thanksgiving ceremony. But my husband insists his mother and relatives must be invited because “I am one of them.” This really hurts because throughout all this, my husband has never stood up for me. He continues to be a mama’s boy.
“Honestly, it has taken away my excitement about my house. What makes it worse is that l’ve been the one keeping us afloat financially, yet he is still team mom despite everything. Now I feel like cancelling the ceremony. My mother says I should put my pride aside just for that day and be the bigger person. Is she right, or should I call it off? What could be my blind spot?”
