A listener shares that he recently met a lady who asked him out on a date. He agreed and they went out, but when it was time to pay the bill, her card declined.
He ended up covering the bill, and she paid him back a few days later. But he was kind of put off by the whole situation and worried it might not be a great start to their relationship.
“This lady asked me out on a date two weeks ago. When it was time to leave, she insisted on paying, and her card declined. I didn’t want her to feel embarrassed, so I paid the bill.
“A few days later, she sent me the money and apologised for what happened. We have continued to talk but deep down, I feel what happened was a turn-off for me. She seemed a good girl, and she did pay me back, but I think something changed in me. She has asked to make it up to me but a part of me says I need to run and not look back. But again, such things can happen to anyone.
“Even if I give her another chance, I still feel I need to introspect. What do you think made me feel this way? I don’t want to give her another chance with only one foot in, with doubts and ignoring yellow flags. What could be my blind spot?”
