We’re taught to always set goals if we want to achieve anything in life.
But have we paused to ask ourselves where does this thinking come from?
Because what that thinking negated is the fact that we have different personality types and social orientations.
It came from the industrialist era when everything was mechanical.
But one thing they never really spoke about was happiness.
A listener tells The Best T in the City with Tbose:
“Setting goals is okay but we live such a boxed life that we feel like having to live a textbook life is okay. That’s why I see people struggling with anxiety and depression and then we get sick very early and eventually people die.
“When I turned 25 I made a conscious decision to live an unconventional life. I’m working towards achieving my goals but I’m also living life.
“Do you think if we didn’t set time limits for ourselves we would be happier?”
Feel Good’s Andy Maqondwana shares:
“At 27 I said that I should’ve been married with my first kid. I think it just comes from expectation and adults when we were younger had their lives together – at least it looked like that.”
