Renowned American gospel singer BeBe Winans recently sat down with Tbose on My Top 10 at 10 for an exclusive interview before embarking on his highly anticipated four-leg tour of South Africa.
During the conversation, BeBe reflected on the valuable lessons he learned amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, a period of uncertainty that affected everyone’s lives.
“My kids didn’t understand what a savings account was, and during COVID, they shut everything down and people couldn’t go to work.
“I had an enjoyable time going home, not having to be anywhere, and spending time with just me because I enjoy myself. A lot of people didn’t want to be alone because they were stuck with themselves.
“It gives you a chance to sit down and examine: Who am I? What am I here for, and what am I doing with my life?”
BeBe also addressed his absence from performing concerts in the United States in recent years and shared his passions beyond music.
“I have learned to enjoy what God has given me. I don’t have to have much because the peace that is on the inside is what brings you through every storm, and even in the high times, I had a lot of peace.
“I haven’t done concerts in the States in about fifteen years until last week at the Apollo in New York, and people flew in from all over the world. It was very alarming and a little educational for me. I have always believed that no one can be you.
“Your passions change when you grow. I have always been more passionate about writing than I am about singing. I enjoy not traveling.”
Additionally, he revealed that he is getting ready to drop an album, which he has been working on over the last two years.
