A listener recently shared that she will be hosting a 65th birthday party for her mother this June. One of her friends, who offers décor services, is thrilled about the event and seems confident that her services will be used.
However, Anonymous isn’t a fan of her friend’s work. While she doesn’t want to disappoint her friend, she also wants to ensure her mother’s milestone birthday is of the highest standard.
Turning to The Best T in the City with Tbose for advice, she asked if there are any blind spots she might be overlooking in this delicate situation.
“I am throwing my mother a 65th birthday party in June. I have been telling my friends about it, and one of them does decor. She sounds so sure I will be using her services and keeps sending me suggestions, but honestly, I don’t like her work. It is not modern; it is so old school.
“Would I be wrong to lie to her and say my brother has already paid someone else? Or should I send her pictures of what I want, knowing very well she does not have those things, and maybe she will decline?
“But again, what if she can pull it off? Eish! She gets so excited when she talks about décor. I know I’ll feel bad if I give her this gig and her décor doesn’t fit what I am going for. How can I get out of this without being a bad friend?”
