The Mail & Guardian has reported on the emergence of possible talks regarding discontent within the EFF under the leadership of Julius Malema, raising concerns about a potential split between Malema and his deputy. Additionally, there have been consistent and damaging stories circulating around the ANC’s Paul Mashatile in the past month. These developments sparked a discussion on 959 Breakfast about the succession plans for both the ANC and EFF.
During the show, host Sizwe Dhlomo posed an intriguing question, questioning the sudden appearance of sources within the parties and whether this narrative of division among the top leadership is a recurring theme, particularly with black parties. Dhlomo, however, emphasized that he was not implying such a scenario but found it rather convenient.
Given these circumstances, he engaged active supporters of the ANC and EFF to share their perspectives on the recent media developments and to express their level of satisfaction with the current leaders of their respective parties.
