A politician from Uganda, Evelyn Anite, made headlines when she decided to reclaim an ambulance she had previously donated to her district after losing the 2021 election. Anite confirmed her actions and expressed no regrets.
“Once they said go away, I packed all my belongings and left them. Now I hear people crying as if I were the first one to call it quits. The Bible says the wage of sin is death.”
Furthermore, Anite emphasized that voters should “feel ashamed” and treat those who are kind to them with “kindness in return.”

The 959 Breakfast team discussed this story and encouraged their listeners to share their thoughts as well.
Mpho Maboi questioned Anite’s intentions, stating that one cannot simply campaign using an ambulance. “You can’t just electioneer with an ambulance; what else have you done leading up to the election for people to want to vote for you?”
Sizwe Dhlomo also chimed in, highlighting that many politicians enter politics without the genuine desire to improve people’s lives.
“If this was about bettering lives, regardless of who is at the helm, she would still keep the ambulance. That’s why I find that this is relevant to us as well.
“In this day and age, I feel that a lot of our politicians only govern for their tenure. As soon as their tenure is over, things could get worse. They prefer that they get worse so that you miss them,” he said in part.
