Amapiano DJ DBN Gogo joins 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka.
DBN Gogo blew up in 2020 after featuring on Channel O’s Lockdown House Party.
Speaking about her success, she says “we don’t make as much money as we think. Shap there is money in what we do but we have to diversify how we make the money because bookings are not sustainable.”
Contrary to popular belief, DBN Gogo made a name for herself without the help of her father.
“In everything, I do he doesn’t have the range. He also found out very late about what I do.
“I’ve been having this chat with people since my school days. I always say that a lot of people who were in exile have a lot of PTSD.”
She notes that her parent’s separation hasn’t been easy but her dad has been active in her life.
“It’s only now that we have been having more time to rekindle.”
Despite receiving praise from Amapiano heads for her level of skill, DBN Gogo started deejaying in 2017.
“I had a couple of lessons with DJ Venom. He used to play at Stones in Melville.”
