This week, 959 Breakfast with Dineo Ranaka and Sol Phenduka discussed why it’s important for parents to apologise to children when they are in the wrong.
Many parents often overlook the importance of saying sorry to their kids. Experts say that it’s important for children to her parents say “sorry”.
Some parents believe that if they admit to being wrong, they will lose control and the child will end up being disrespectful.
Dineo Ranaka says it’s important for parents to have a relationship with their children.
“You have to have that relationship with your children where they are comfortable enough to come to you when you have done wrong. And you are able to put your ego aside when you’ve done wrong.”
Sol Phenduka adds that as a parent you don’t have to wait for the kids to tell you that you are wrong before you apologise.
