Gauteng residents are bracing for a warm weekend as October gets off to a sunny start.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has forecast clear skies and warm conditions for both Johannesburg and Pretoria, with temperatures reaching the mid-20s on Saturday.
However, the weather is expected to change on Sunday, with rainfall forecast for both cities.
Pretoria is expected to record a minimum temperature of 13°C and a maximum of 22°C, with around 5mm of rain forecast and a 30% chance of rainfall.
The capital could see showers in the early hours before cloudy conditions develop in the afternoon.
Johannesburg is expected to be slightly cooler, with temperatures ranging from 12°C to 19°C.
So, if you’re looking for a reason to get out of the house and make the most of the first weekend of October, we’ve got you covered.
Here’s where you can enjoy the warm weather on Saturday in and around Johannesburg
Food and markets
If good food, music and a lively atmosphere are your idea of a perfect Saturday, you can check out the Jozi Kota Festival at the Johannesburg Expo Centre in Nasrec.
The festival celebrates Jozi’s street-food culture, bringing together different takes on the iconic kota alongside music and entertainment. It starts at 10am on Saturday, 3 October.
Take in the city from above
You could also take an Epic Ponte Sundowners tour at Ponte Tower and watch the Johannesburg sunset from one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks.
The experience offers panoramic views of the city and is a great option if you want to spend your Saturday outdoors while watching the sun go down.
A little self-care never hurt anyone
If you would rather spend your Saturday investing in yourself, head to Riversands for A Skincare Affair, an expo hosted by Skincare Junkies South Africa.
The event brings skincare lovers and beauty brands together, with opportunities to learn more about products, ingredients and skincare routines. It takes place at Riversands I-Hub from 8am to 7pm on Saturday, 3 October.
Or keep it simple
And if you are not in the mood to be a social butterfly, you don’t have to leave the house at all.
Grab a blanket, pack some snacks and have an outdoor picnic with your loved ones in your own yard.
Whatever you decide to do, make the most of the warm weather while it last, because Sunday is bringing a change in conditions.
