The cost of living in South Africa is getting out of hand, even multi-record-selling rapper Cassper Nyovest is feeling it.
Over the last couple of years, the cost of living has more than quadrupled, hitting consumers hard.
Cassper took to X (formerly Twitter) to ask if electricity prices ever change. He shared that he recently spent R3000 on electricity, getting 900 units, only to find out days later that the same amount only got him 750 units.
“Also what’s mad that is R3000 rand electricity lasts a week in my house , with the geysers off and everything. Life in JHB IS CRAZY.”
Someone on X suggested that Cassper could afford solar panels with the amount he spends on electricity. Cassper admitted he already has solar panels, but that doesn’t excuse the crazy high electricity prices in Mzansi.
“I have a full Solar too. So I don’t experience load shedding. Mara still , electricity in this country has become too expensive. 12 k a month on electricity is madness mann… it used to be 18k a month before I moved to prepaid. like this is scary. What’s gonna happen in 5 years?”

Cassper recently married his childhood sweetheart, Pulane.
Reflecting on his wedding over a month ago, he expressed that today he now stands as a “changed man, a man of faith, honesty, peace, integrity, love, and honour wisdom.”
He added, “It’s by the grace of God that I’m a changed man. Many may call me names and question my salvation, but God has called me, and I answered with pride.
“To lead the lost man of today!! I’m not better than anyone; I’m just different from my old self, for the grace of God is upon me!!! Thank you, Lord!!”
