The second outbreak of coronavirus is upon us, and along with it, work-from-home stresses that had our energies depleted in 2020. Now that we know that we need to balance work with deep relaxation, stress relief activities and moments of lightness of mind, why not start the year with some basic yoga movements?
This Hindu discipline helps you with breath control, simple meditation, and the adoption of specific body postures. Here are a few moves that will open the energy channels, chakras and psychic centres of the body while increasing flexibility of the spine and stimulating the circulatory and immune systems:
The Dolphin
The Dolphin strengthens your upper body in preparation for the Headstand.

Shoulder Stand
Strengthens your entire body directing circulation to your thyroid gland instead of the head.

The Plough
This move sees your body being bent forward; this stretches your entire spine, particularly your cervical vertebrae and shoulders.

The Fish
The fish stretch counters the Plough, combating postural defects such as rounded shoulders and the cervical region of your spine, and releases pressure on your nerves.
