Police are on high alert in Kibler Park, South of Johannesburg after violent protests erupted this morning.
Residents of Jacksons informal settlement took to the streets to express their anger at the removal of illegal shacks.
The Johannesburg Metro Police Department found that the informal settlement is over-populated with shacks being erected too close to the roads. Posing a risk to motorists and pedestrians in the event of accidents.
Despite order being restored, JMPD Spokesperson Wayne Minaar calls for motorists to be cautious in the area.
Navigating through the rocks, burnt debris and other hazardous objects could prove dangerous, especially with the wet weather conditions in the city today.
Affected roads include the R554 and R550 near Kibler Park and Eikenhof.
