Kaya 959 in partnership with FNB hosted a Business Women’s Breakfast on 8 August 2019, the eve of National Women’s Day, at the Sandton Convention Centre, under the theme ‘Be Limitless’ – a firm assertion that women can be whatever they choose to be.

The lineup of speakers selected for the event was a composition of strong and diverse women, who brought awe-inspiring insights from the world of business. The high-profile speakers included celebrity chef Siba Mtongana, model and advocate Thando Hopa and pioneering commercial pilot Asnath Mahapa. They were joined by FNB Business Bank executive Andiswa Bata, whose story captured a journey of a small-town girl in the Eastern Cape making great strides in a world-class business and financial institution. This set the tone for uplifting conversations.

While the attendees were there to network and boost their business lives, the only way the conference would be meaningful and find resonance with them would be through the lens of personal, emotive stories centred in women’s lived experiences. Women’s stories matter. This was an event to affirm the industrious women of our country. The aforementioned speakers were joined by Spark Schools Co-founder CEO Stacey Brewer for a panel discussion, who outlined the importance of education, mentorship and finding a niche.

The event was facilitated by the presenter of the award-winning business show, Kaya Bizz, Gugulethu Mfuphi. Throughout the morning, the women on the panel and those in the audience grappled with what it means for women to be limitless in business and in the greater world. By the of the breakfast, other ideas had been introduced to the boundary-pushing agenda of the limitless woman in business: authenticity. When your story is authentic, it resonates and that creates a great springboard for branding a business.

The women (and some men) in attendance had a chance to interact with two activations from Kaya 959 and FNB. On the FNB side, the women were afforded the chance to sharpen their elevator pitches by presenting a business idea in front of a camera. From Kaya 959, they had the opportunity to explore and interact on the newly launched Shop Kaya website.
