Ramaphosa has the final say
Though the JSC has made the recommendation, President Cyril Ramaphosa is the only person lawfully allowed to decide if he is accepting the JSC’s recommendation to appoint Judge Mandisa Maya as Chief Justice.
If she gets appointed, she will become South Africa’s very first female Chief Justice.
