Parts of Johannesburg South has been plunged into darkness following a fire at a substation.
The outage is a result of a fire at the Lotus substation caught fire around midnight.
Affected areas include:
Zakariya Park
Vlakfontein
Hospital Hills
Parts of Lenasia South
The cause of the fire is yet to be established but preliminary investigations suggest the feeder board is completely burned down.
An estimated time of restoration to electricity supply is unknown at this stage but City Power will update residents on developments.
City Power’s Isaac Mangena assures residents of Johannesburg South that they are doing everything possible to restore power as soon as possible.
He calls for patience until the repairs are made.
