We can all agree that the pandemic has drastically changed the way we communicate. It’s always interesting to see how the way we use technology today will affect the way we communicate tomorrow.
We’ve gone through many communication apps over the years, from Mxit to BBM, Facebook and WhatsApp now Telegram is showing tremendous growth following WhatsApp security concerns.
A new app that’s making its presence felt is definitely the invite-only audio app Clubhouse. This VIP app uses new technology to bring people together when physical closeness is halted in midst of a pandemic.
Sorry, do you have an invite?
Clubhouse is only in beta, so you can’t yet download it and jump on just yet. To join, you need an invitation from someone who’s already on the app. However, you can get on the waiting list by installing the app (at the moment it’s only available for iOS) and by sending your phone number.
Why is Clubhouse so special?
This app is an audio-based social network released in March 2020, and the personal nature of interactions with like-minded people from around the world is the cool thing about the app. There are virtual rooms inside the app that you can visit to listen to or engage in a discussion on a specific topic. You can also create a room on a certain topic, yourself.
The appeal of the app comes with its exclusivity. Within the first year, the app has attracted big names such as Jared Leto and filmmaker Ava DuVernay, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Oprah, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Terry Crews. They have all hosted virtual rooms with people across the world.
The app is currently tipped to be valued at over $1 billion which puts it what is called the unicorn category, a rarity for most start-up ventures. This is good news for those who wish to invest in the company early before its stock price goes even higher.
It’s still early days, but we recommended you jump on the wave to be first in line for the VIP audio experience.
