The Independent Examinations Board (IEB) have released its 2021 matric results, with a pass rate of 98.39%. This is a little higher than the 2020 results which saw a pass rate of 98.06%.
Of this almost 90% of the learners who passed did so with degree entry at tertiary level.
Over 13 000 matriculants wrote the IEB exams in October and November 2021.
The IEB said 12,857 full-time and 968 part-time candidates from 238 examination centres wrote the exams.
With 7.82% of the candidates who passed qualifying for admission to study for a diploma.
A further 1.37% received passes for a higher certificate entry.
The closing date to apply for remarking is January 28 and the results from remarking will be released on March 15.
A total of 990 distinctions were achieved.
Results for matriculants from public schools will be released on Friday. The Department of Basic Education will now publish results for the National Senior Certificate on all matric platforms.
This after the Pretoria High Court ruled against not publishing the results due to the POPIA Act.
