Celebrities are always creating FOMO with their high-end tastes, life of luxury and designer err-thang and to the untrained eye, it may look like they have it all. While some do and are constantly rocking international fashion labels, an anonymous Instagram account is exposing celebrities for ‘allegedly’ rocking fake Gucci items.
“I’m here to expose these designer wanna be’s, stick with your Zara and H&M if you can’t afford the real thing! Tag us if you spot something shady,” the account’s biography reads. The tongue-in-cheek social media page has “Government Official” under the account name, Fake Gucci Community SA.
So far DJ Omuhle Makaziwe Gela, Somizi, Mampintsha, Zarinah Hassan aka “Zari the Boss Lady”, Big Zulu and Shaun Andile Naki, better known as Shaun stylist have all been called out on the page.
Mara why? From the looks of things, the person/s behind the page is a Gucci expert and picks out details in the Italian brand’s luxury leather accessories that most people would miss.
Babes Wodumo’s husband Mampintsha was on the account’s hitlist twice for his “black market” bucket hats. “Durban is slowly turning into #fakecity,” the caption reads.
To add further insult to injury the account holder isn’t afraid to tag the South African celebrities who they find guilty of a fashion crime. Ya neh! Only in Mzansi!
