Masasa Mbangeni says she feels “sick, dirty, and angry” after being catcalled by a drunk man in Johannesburg.
The award-winning actress shared her experience on Twitter.
“Just got catcalled by some drunkard while I was walking to buy chilli. I was from the gym and didn’t have a jacket or anything. He kept coming my way & grabbing his penis.

Women share their stories
One of the ‘Mzali Wam’ star’s fans shared a story of her own. She said she was attacked by a man whose friend just stood by and laughed.
“He pulled my hand when I fought back. He started slapping me and [threw] away my food I was carrying. [He] opened my drink and pour [it over] my face and called me stupid while the shop owner watched, he was also a man,” the woman recalled.
Another woman said she had to throw rocks at construction workers who wouldn’t stop catcalling her.
“Sorry Sis. At some point I got so pissed off, I started throwing rocks at a bunch of construction workers, they were so shocked. I’m sure they never did that to a woman again.”

A Twitter user revealed that her daughter and niece were also harassed by construction workers.
“My 12-year-old daughter and 14-year-old niece got their first experience of harassment by construction workers in December, One told my 7-year-old nephew to ‘give him one of his women’. I am so tired of this s**t.”
Women need protection
When one female follower suggested that Masasa needs protection, she said all women need protection from “these pigs”.
“This will probably happen to you tomorrow & that’s what makes me sick.”
