A huge sinkhole on the N1 South Pretoria is affecting traffic.
The SA National Roads Agency (SANRAL) has decided to close the left lane on the N1 before Botha Avenue as a precautionary measure.
This after the sinkhole emerged over the weekend.
The heavy rains in the country has caused widespread flooding and damaged several roads.
As a result traffic is affected en-route to Pretoria.
According to SANRAL engineers and a road maintenance contractor were assessing the situation.
The concern is that the road is already showing signs that it will collapse.
There are several deep cracks in the tar which indicate the ground is waterlogged.
Motorists are urged to exercise caution.
