As the country mourns the passing of songstress Zahara, a video clip from a previous interview the singer had with MacG is trending, where she shares that she wants to be remembered as, “the girl next door who inspired people.”
Zahara wanted people to remember her as someone who changed lives and nothing more.
“I want to be remembered as the girl next door who changed lives, that’s it.
A girl next door, whether you’re in a shack, just know I am next door.
Whether you’re in a suburb, just know I am next door, because my music is there to inspire you.
So, a girl next door whenever you need her, she’s there to inspire and give you hope.”
In 2021, Zahara shared with DJ Keyez on the Ultimate Kaya 959 Top 30 that she was tired of the constant negative backlash she was subjected to online, and just wanted to live her life unapologetically.
This after videos of the singer seemingly drunk made headlines.
Zahara, who was engaged to Mpho Xaba, reportedly made their union official a few weeks before she was hospitalized on 27 November.
Photographs of Zahara and Mpho’s traditional wedding celebration on 12 November have been shared to social media since the Loliwe hitmaker’s passing on Monday night, 11 December.
