Not only did King Charles III call South Africa’s President, Cyril ‘Ramafoza’ instead of Ramaphosa but he attempted to greet him in several vernacular languages too.
While social media users were left gobsmacked at the King’s incorrect pronunciation of the multiple traditional greetings, the President was in awe, as he responded, “WOW!”
After each South African greeting by the newly appointed King, in isiZulu, Sesotho, isiXhosa and Tshivenda, Ramaphosa’s reaction has since gone viral.

Ramaphosa’s state visit with the UK’s monarch has been met with severe criticism, with several opposition parties calling out the President for leaving the country amid the country’s escalating energy crisis.
Upon arrival in the UK, the DA Abroad staged a silent protest drawing attention to Ramaphosa prioritising “sipping royal tea” while taxpayers grapple under the worst loadshedding in history.
However, Cyril ‘Ramafoza’ as he is addressed by the King said the visit was important and necessary to strengthen ties between the UK and South Africa with regards to trade, commerce and investment.
Ramaphosa addressed the joint sitting of British Parliament on Tuesday where he delivered more than just his profound one-word response of ‘WOW!’
