Skeem Saam actress Elizabeth Serunye recently celebrated a major milestone in her career by winning the Best Actress in a TV Soap Award at the 18th South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs).
This win marked her first-ever major award as an actress.
Serunye, who is best known for her portrayal of Principal Thobakgale on the popular SABC1 soap opera, expressed her gratitude for the recognition.
She thanked the SAFTAs, her fans, Peu Communications, the cast and crew of Skeem Saam, and most importantly, her late parents.
Elizabeth Srunye portrays the strict but well-meaning principal at Turfloop High School. Serunye is highly regarded for bringing depth and authenticity to her roles, especially with her portrayal of a character navigating the challenges of managing a school and maintaining authority. She’s become a fan favourite for her powerful performances and relatable storylines on the show.
