Skeem Saam, once a small series showcasing the lives of ordinary South Africans, primarily in Limpopo, has grown into one of the country’s most-watched soap operas.
Off the back of a compelling storyline, Skeem Saam has announced that renowned actors Warren Masemola and Lesley Musina are set to join the SABC1 daily drama series.
“It’s absolutely beautiful. I actually feel like I’m in Limpopo. Being a city boy who grew up in Tshwane, the set of Skeem Saam makes me feel like I’m back with my people,” said Warren about joining Skeem Saam.
Warren Masemola will play the character Gopane, a Turfloop native who moved to Johannesburg to work as a taxi driver. His sudden appearance a few months after his son Smaki’s mysterious disappearance will have Turfloop families under scrutiny as he vows to uncover the truth behind his son’s disappearance.
Warren makes his first appearance on November 4, 2024.
Meanwhile, it seems all is well in Mr Kgomo and Melita’s world until a blast from the past suddenly comes knocking at their door, threatening to disrupt their lives.
Played by Lesley Musina, ‘Fefo’ might initially seem like an ordinary charming, confident, and good-looking man. However, we soon discover a darker side to him, one full of menace and violence.
“Shooting Skeem Saam is a dream come true. What an amazing production. Everyone is so welcoming here, and I immediately felt at home when cast, crew, and production welcomed me with open arms. It feels like I’ve been here forever,” says Lesley.
Look out for Lesley on your screens from November 20, 2024.
