Shou Zi Chew, the CEO of TikTok says his kids don’t use the popular platform.
Singaporean businessman and TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew disclosed in an interview that his children don’t use the social media app.
Chew claimed that his two children, ages eight and six, were too young to use the site. Additionally, according to Chew, it is legally required that children under the age of 13 use a separate app. Additionally, he made it clear that he would not relax the limitation to allow children access to TikTok.
“TikTok here in the US if you are below the age of 13, you get a very restricted version of it, and in many other countries around the world. We do not allow users who are below 13 to have the platform,” he said.

Chew said in a new interview that “tough conversations” are needed on the future of the platform.
Chew stated in an interview with The Washington Post that he doesn’t take talk of outlawing the platform “very lightly” and that it would be a “real shame” if the more than 100 million TikTok users in the United States were disconnected.
“We have to have tough conversations on: Who is using it now? What kind of value does it bring to them? What does it mean if we just, like, rip it out of their hands?”
“I don’t take this conversation of ‘let’s just ban TikTok’ very lightly. … I don’t think it’s a trivial question. I don’t think it should be something that’s decided, you know, in 280 characters.” said Chew.
