Exactly a year after the sexual assault case against DJ Fresh and Euphonik was dismissed, the NPA has decided to reopen the case.
Both popular DJs were implicated in the alleged rape of a woman who publicly called out both DJ Fresh and Euphonik on social media.
Opening a case against Thato Sikwane (Fresh) and Themba Nkosi (Euphonik), in January 2021, the woman from Pretoria, claimed the men drugged and raped her 10-years ago.
Charges were dropped against the duo on 15 February 2021, due to insufficient evidence.
However, the woman identified only by her Twitter handle @Nampree said her case was sabotaged by a “bogus cop.”
She claims a bogus private investigator walked into the Sunnyside police station in Pretoria claiming to have been hired by the woman herself.
“Without verifying with me they gave him my ENTIRE docket. In his ‘investigation’ he made me look like a sex worker. That’s how my case got dismissed.”
The woman tweeted on 3 October 2021
Both DJ Fresh and Euphonik were dismissed from their radio shows at 947 amid the allegations they were facing.
The woman’s legal representative, Brenda Madumise -Pajibo said when the case was dismissed, a formal dispute and grievance against the police was launched.
The matter was also brought to the attention of the Public Protector.
Fresh and Euphonik have maintained they are innocent.
Earlier this month, Fresh and his wife Thabiso Sikwane confirmed they are getting divorced.
Thabiso initiated divorce proceedings in 2020 and the pair are finalising details for the amicable split.
The couple were married for 20-years before things took an irreconcilable turn.
