American rapper Magoo has reportedly died at the age of 50-years old, as Hip Hop celebrates its 50th anniversary.
Magoo, who is best known for being part of the duo, Timbaland and Magoo, has, according to Page Six, passed away on Sunday, 13 August.
The cause of Melvin Barcliff’s (Magoo’s) death remains unconfirmed at this stage.
In the early 90s, Timbaland and Magoo collaborated and churned out a number of hits including, Up Jumps Da Boogie, Luv 2 Luv U, and All Y’all.
News of Magoo’s passing came after R&B artist Digital Black, also known as Benjamin Bush from Dru Hill, and Playa sent messages of condolences.
Magoo and Timbaland, Timothy Mosley, parted ways in 2004, after first meeting and collaborating as teenagers in 1989.
It was Magoo’s smooth style and witty lyricism that made him a formidable force in the world of Hip Hop, and he went on to make meaningful contributions to the late Aaliyah’s hits as well.
