Television personality Desmond Dube reflects on his time living on the streets homeless.
Christmas is a special day for many around the world as they get to give thanks and reflect on how far they’ve come.
This is no different for Desmond Dube as thirty-odd years ago he was homeless and living on the streets.
“That was both terrifying and confusing,” he reflects on the experience.
Dube says it is prayer that has saved him.
“The streets of Joburg become empty and eerie( on the other hand very clean, if you care about that). It sounds amazing for those who prefer a quieter environment I know. But it’s agony for those who have nowhere to go and no one to share the misery with.”
“I depended on God,” he continues.“I knew someone out there prayed for me and others like me. Prayer became my protector when the police were focused on the festivities and I learned quickly that criminals don’t have “holidays” because the streets become even more dangerous for those who seem vulnerable and easy targets.”
The How To Ruin Christmas actor asks the public to include those “who don’t have anyone to share the holidays” in their prayers.
