Showmax recently held the premiere of the highly-anticipated Mommy Club in Johannesburg. Attendees included the cast, Omuhle Gela, and other notable names in the South African entertainment space.
The Mommy Club is a reality series about five glamorous moms who seemingly have it all. It’s an all-access inside look at the lives of the one percent and the people who help them build their empires and raise their heirs.
The show kicked off this week with a R250 000 birthday party, where some of the cast meet each other for the first time.
Here’s a look at the official launch of The Mommy Club.
Executive producer Zinzi Velelo says she conceptualized Mommy Club after having her first baby.
“The Mommy Club is a concept that I thought about after I had my first baby in 2020. I would see these glam women on social media living their best lives and I would ask myself how they do it. They seemed to have it all together and I didn’t, so that sparked my interest.
“The ladies had figured it out because they had the best childcare and that’s what helped them hold it all together. It takes a village,” she told Kaya 959.
Velelo hopes The Mommy Club will “show women that being a mom does not have to stop your life. You can still be glamorous, loving, young, ambitious and all things fabulous. Kids are an addition to your life; there is you before kids and there will be you after kids, so it is very important not to neglect yourself and your dreams.”
