Netflix has announced the third season of the South African original series Kings of Joburg, sharing a teaser from the upcoming instalment.
Leading the cast are Connie Ferguson, Zolisa Xaluva, and Abdul Khoza.
Kings of Joburg first premiered on Netflix in December 2020 and has since captivated audiences with its crime drama.
The series follows the Masire family, a powerful force in Johannesburg’s criminal underworld. Led by the enigmatic and influential Simon Masire, the family faces ongoing power struggles, betrayals, and a supernatural curse that threatens to tear them apart.
The show delves into themes of loyalty, deception, and the consequences of power, offering a compelling look into the complexities of family ties within the world of organised crime.
The late Shona Ferguson, a South African-born Botswana actor, co-created Kings of Jo’burg alongside his wife, Connie Ferguson.
He played a big part in the development and production of the series, both on and off-screen. Shona starred as Simon “Vader” Masire, the formidable leader of the Masire family, whose influence shaped Johannesburg’s criminal empire.
