South African musician Mercy Pakela has shared her traumatic mugging at the Joburg CBD taxi rank, calling it one of the worst experiences of her life.
The Ayashisha Amateki hitmaker said she fought her muggers off, and warned people of syndicates operating at the taxi ranks downtown.
She shares that she was followed by three women who tried to pull her into a corner and take her things.
Mercy says she was on her way to Sandton for a meeting when she was almost mugged but she managed she fight back and protect her belongings.
“I was walking, the lady tried to stick her dirty little fingers in my bag, but I caught her. She was with two other women in the syndicate, they tried to pull me into a corner and take my things. But I fought. I fought.”
The seasoned singer warned fellow taxi users to be mindful of their surroundings, and watch for women who target other women.
She says it’s scary when you’re cornered by a group of women who threaten you and who don’t look afraid to hurt you.
