SAFTA award-winning actress Masasa Mbangeni opens up about an ex who abused her emotionally.
Masasa Mbangeni recalls this person body shaming her and telling her she shouldn’t be having kids because of her looks.
“I remember someone I once loved telling me I’m unusual looking & probably shouldn’t have kids because I will pass on this unusual looking to them.”
Looking back, she says this was very insensitive considering she is someone who works in front of the camera.
“What a weird thing to say to someone who works with their face & body. Life is hard but being human is truly the hardest thing.”
To this day Masasa struggles with self-confidence.
“Anyway, I’m not fishing for compliments. I suspect this person has long forgotten saying this & moved on with their life but the impact it still has on me astounds me. I struggle with photos or photoshoots for work so so much.”
She reminds her followers to always be mindful of what they say as words have a lasting impact.
