South Africans have extended their prayers for radio personality Mark Pilgrim to keep fighting after lung surgery.
This just days after the radio industry mourned the passing of fellow radio icon, Jeremy Mansfield who lost his battle to cancer earlier this week.
Like Mansfield, Mark Pilgrim is also battling Stage 4 cancer, while Mansfield was diagnosed with liver cancer, Pilgrim is dealing with lung cancer.
Last month Pilgrim shared that he underwent a procedure to have over 2 litres of fluid drained from his lungs.
Now, the Hot 1027 presenter is in ICU recovering from surgery due to a collapsed lung.
While he remains in positive spirits with his wife, Adrienne Watkins by his side, avid listeners and followers urged Pilgrim to keep fighting, and were waiting for him to return to the airwaves.
The media personality who maintains a smile regardless of what life is throwing his way, says he can’t wait to sip a cocktail with his wife and look back on these days of hardship and laugh.
“Hospital day 4… with my Adrienne by my side. ❤️
One day, as we sip cocktails on the beach, with our toes in the sand and the girls laughing in the background, we’ll look back at these past months and say that this was one hell of a journey… and we got through it.”
Pilgrim who chose to document his battle with cancer in the hope it will inspire others who may be going through a difficult time, was re-diagnosed with the cancer in March this year, after 33-years in remission.
