Podcaster Mac G, who hardly opens up about his personal life says he attempted to end his life back in high school.
He revealed this in an episode of his podcast. Mac G and his team were highlighting the importance of mental health awareness.
“I wanted to commit suicide once, I was in high school, I had just bought a Nokia 3310 and it didn’t have a sim card.
“I went to school with it and during PE, you know those guys from the hood. He stole my phone without a sim card. I went back home, told my mom and I started crying.”

At the time Mac G and his mother lived in a flat in Parktown. “I climbed to the top and I wanted to end it because I couldn’t live without the phone.”
As he looked down from the top he got scared and didn’t go ahead with it.
Reflecting on the incident, it is just a mere phone now but at the time it meant so much to a young Mac G.
Other members of his team also opened up about attempting suicide, what saved them, and why is it so difficult for men to open up about what they are going through.
