Kelly Khumalo has chosen not to follow the Senzo Meyiwa trial, saying she has to stay away from the noise for the sake of her mental health.
The gospel singer who was dating the slain footballer at the time of his death, has been implicated by two of the men accused of gunning down Meyiwa of orchestrating the hit on him.
However, Kelly who has maintained her silence since Meyiwa was shot and killed in what the State is calling a botched home invasion, says she just has to wait for God to prevail.
In an interview on Ukhozi FM, the Empini hitmaker says she isn’t focused on what any person says about her as the truth will come out in God’s time.
“For me to keep sane, and for me to remain in place of faith and trusting God, I have to stay away from the noise and wait for God to prevail.
It becomes a reminder of something that didn’t sit right with you at all. When you think it’s over, it starts over.
So, you must stay away for your mental health and wait for God’s time. God is not a man that he should lie, so you remain and hold on to that and trust the process.”
In April, the defence lawyer for accused No.1 in the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial wanted Kelly to be subpoenaed to court.
Kelly, who was pregnant with Meyiwa’s daughter at the time of his death was one of the occupants inside her family’s Vosloorus home on the night the footballer was killed.
A number of Kelly’s family members were inside the house including her sister Zandie, their mother, Ntombi Khumalo, Zandie’s boyfriend at the time, Longwe Twala, and two of Meyiwa’s friends – Mthokozisi Thwala, who is also the cousin of Meyiwa’s wife, Mandisa Mkhize; as well as Tumelo Madlala, Meyiwa’s childhood friend.
