Ticket Master South Africa has apologised for the delay is processing ticket refunds for the Justin Bieber South African concerts.
The delay is reportedly due to an ‘unexpected glitch’ with the payment partners which they are working on as a matter of urgency.
In a statement, Ticket Master SA said, “We want our customers to be assured that our promise of a full refund will be honoured. Please know that this is our number one priority and we are working around the clock to guarantee that all customers receive a full refund as soon as possible.”
According to Big Concerts, the glitch was a result of customer payment data being deleted automatically by the payment processor 6-months after the date of purchase.
Due to the difficulty in retrieving the data, immediate refunds were not possible through the ticketing system.
As a result customers’ payment data had to be reconstructed, followed by a manual process of several checks and balances.
It has been reported that all refunds for Justin Bieber’s Johannesburg leg of the concert have been processed, with about 40% left to complete for Cape Town ticket refunds.
Last month, Justin Bieber announced he is taking a break from international tours to prioritise his health.
This follows Justin’s health scare from Ramsay-Hunt syndrome which immobilized half of his face.
Justin Bieber was set to perform in Cape Town on 28 September and in Johannesburg on 01 October.
