Actress Galaletsang Koffman, renowned for her portrayal of Beauty in the award-winning South African telenovela The River, recently made an appearance on Mantsoe’s podcast. During the sit-down, Koffman bravely shared her journey of overcoming adversity, bringing to light her past experience of being in an abusive relationship.
Koffman couldn’t make it to work because her partner was preventing her from doing so. After obtaining a restraining order, the actress found herself with almost nothing left.
“I showed up at The River with bum shorts and a bra because I didn’t have anything else to wear. Everyone thought I was on drugs; it was so funny. I am just telling you guys that I ain’t got anywhere to stay; I am just going through a lot, and I just need a job,”,” she shared.
Reflecting on her experience, Koffman mentioned that every year when women share their stories, she wonders, “Should I speak up too? Will people think I’m seeking attention? Or can I actually help someone by talking about it?”
She also disclosed that the guy completely disrupted her life. “The guy cleared my bank account, beat me up to a pulp, and waterboarded me. It was crazy. We were together for five years, and the abuse started two or three years into the relationship. We were together for five years,” she said.
