Lerato Sengadi, the widow of the late South African hip-hop star HHP (real name Jabulani Tsambo), fondly remembers her husband on what would have been his birthday.
“Happy Birthday, Motho wa Motho,” she penned. “Go bohloko… But go tla loka! Ke go rata until until!”
HHP, a celebrated Motswako rapper, is credited with propelling South African hip-hop and Motswako into the mainstream. He tragically passed away in October 2018, with reports suggesting it was by suicide.
In 2022, Sengadi took to social media to applaud the supporters of Jabba’s legacy, commemorating four years since the rapper’s passing.
“Time flies yet it also feels like it’s standing still. Every year when this day comes I choose to celebrate ur life & what you are to so many of us. Thank You to every single person who loves & still supports Jabba. His legacy is in our hands. Motho wa Motho… you already know what it is! Ka pelo le moya! ” wrote Sengadi
