Over the weekend, Dr Malinga topped trending charts after he posed in a McLaren reported to be worth R6 million.
Fans assumed that Malinga had bought the multimillion-rand vehicle, which they took as a slap in the face.
The post came weeks after he publicly opened up about his financial woes, asking for the public and promoters to help him out.
Following the interview, Malinga’s fortunes changed as bookings and donations started coming in. The singer managed to raise R100k which he paid to SARS.
He confirmed this week that he did not buy the car.
The singer told Daily Sun that those making noise didn’t even contribute to assisting him.
“A person who helps you prosper would not have a problem with you buying a McLaren because they want to see you do well.
“God will never criticise you. When i cried, I wept to God and he touched the hearts of those who helped me.
