Four months after Costa Titch collapsed on stage at the Ultra SA music festival in Nasrec on 11 March, his mother, Lara Langeveld disputes false reports that her son was epileptic and abused drugs.
In a reported exclusive interview with the South African, “Mama Titch” says she still doesn’t have answers as to what caused her 28-year old son’s death.
The Amapiano hitmaker was performing on stage at the music festival before he appeared to be having a seizure and collapsed.
However, his mother disputes reports that suggest Costa Titch, real name Constantinos Tsobanoglou had suffered an epileptic seizure brought on by the strobing lights on stage.
Mama Titch told the publication her son was not diagnosed with epilepsy, and questioned how media reported that he did when neither she, nor anyone from the family were called to verify this.
“I can tell you for a fact that he never had a seizure, as you can tell from the video they took of him collapsing, that his legs were moving but not his arms.
He never suffered from epilepsy, and I would like to know who told the media that he did.
No authorities even contacted me when he died. I just got a call from his managers to tell me that night. Afterwards, I collapsed. I am still waiting for answers, as I have not received the results from his toxicology tests.”

Costa’s mom says there’s delays in toxicology reports and says she should have gone the route of getting a private toxicology report done.
“We needed a complete private autopsy to be done in order to get a private toxicology test done, but we could not because Costa was cremated.”
Langeveld says she has a lot of questions about the night her son died, including why he was not rushed to the nearest hospital because Costa Titch reportedly only died two hours after collapsing on stage.
The closest hospital to the Nasrec Expo Center, where the music festival took place is Baragwanath Hospital.
Langeveld’s maternal instincts leads her to believe someone hurt her son, and she slams reports that Costa Titch had overdosed on drugs.
“As far as drugs, he was on a health programme and hated any form of drug use. All close friends and anyone who knew him can verify he never took drugs.”
Costa Titch was laid to rest on 15 March, and police have opened an inquest docket into his death.
