At this year’s South African Music Awards, award-winning house music guru DJ Black Coffee will receive the International Achievement Award (SAMAs).
The SAMAs stated on social media, “We cannot think of anybody more deserving.”

The DJ, real name Nkosinathi Maphumulo, is being honoured this year as part of the International Achievement Award, which has honoured musicians who have significantly advanced the South African music business for the previous 20 years.

His 2021 album, Subconsciously, earned Black Coffee his first Grammy Award earlier this year in the category of Best Dance/Electronic Music Album.
Drake’s seventh studio album, Honestly, Nevermind, was also executive produced by the widely renowned DJ.
He was also the first South African DJ to perform twice at Coachella and the first DJ from Africa to receive a BET Award.
