Television personality, beauty pageant titleholder, businesswoman, and philanthropist Basetsana Kumalo has shared that she is retiring from producing television.
Khumalo who has written a memoir titled “Bassie: My Journey of Hope,” which chronicles her life story has retired from her position as Connect Channel (Pty) Ltd’s CEO.
During her thirty years in the television industry, the former Miss SA has been on numerous shows, including Cheeky Palett, Date My Family, Becoming, and Utatakho. Kumalo disclosed that Kopano Cowen, who has been mentoring her for ten years and has been working with her as a producer, will be taking over.
“I have always believed in mentoring and seeing young women come to their full potential and fulfilling their dreams and destinies. Some of them have become lawyers, doctors, HR specialists and household names in the creative economy. I have witnessed many trajectories of these game changers, world shakers and history makers,” said Kumalo.

I know you are going to take Connect Channel to new levels of success with your deep understanding of where the future of content is headed and what viewers are consuming.” wrote Khumalo
