Nota Baloyi has come out to say that he will not be paying the R200k in damages caused to DJ Shimza, despite being ordered to do so by the court.
This comes after Shimza opened a defamation case against the music boss.
In 2021 Nota tweeted that Shimza is corrupted and has been benefiting from government money.
In a recent podcast interview, the controversial music exec says the judge is not his dad and will not tell him what to do.
“I’m not going to do it. I’m going to find another judge who’s going to decide differently. This is the law dog.
Nota explains that he doesn’t mind paying lawyers as he won’t back down from fighting for free speech.
If I pay that R200k it means that you need to think every time you drop a podcast because they will use that R200k to say yes, Nota paid Shimza R200k for nonsense so now, every time you say something – you must pay R200k.
He adds that this will cause problems for independent podcasters who are not as rich as him.
Imagine if I don’t have a nice car outside and I don’t have money to pay lawyers, all of you are going to suffer so I need to fight this.
NOTA is NOT giving Shimza a cent despite the court order!
