Earlier this year, The Mommy Club star Ratile Mabitsela lost her husband.
In a recent interview on the Engineer Your Life podcast, Ratile opened up about the pain of her loss and expressed deep gratitude for the support she received from the public.
“The public has sent me so many prayers in my DMs. They’ve been on my side without me having to say anything. I can’t tell you how grateful I am to a bunch of strangers who have been rooting for me. I feel like there’s an entire nation behind me,” she said.
She also spoke about the added difficulty of dealing with critics during an already painful time.
“I didn’t just lose a husband. People lost a child, a brother, and a son. He wasn’t just one person to me – he meant so much more to so many others,” she added.
Ratile said she remains thankful for her family, who supported her through the toughest moments.
“If there was ever a time I thought we’d come together, it was during a time of loss. My family truly came through for me.”
She revealed that both she and her children are receiving professional help as they navigate life after the loss.
“I’m in therapy, and my kids are in therapy. I’m trying to create new traditions for just the four of us now. It’s a journey.”
The star also admitted that the loss has left her “traumatised.”
“The absence is something we feel every day. Just having to talk to the kids about it, and constantly revisiting the reality, has been incredibly difficult.”
