Homecoming, a brand new telenovela, is set to debut on Mzansi Wethu, promising viewers an emotionally rich and culturally grounded drama from the acclaimed production house Tshedza Pictures.
Set in the town of Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, Homecoming follows the journey of Zethu Hlongwane, portrayed by Mpume “Six” Nyamane, a brilliant medical graduate with dreams of becoming one of South Africa’s few Black female surgeons.
But when she is unable to secure a placement or job, her aspirations are put on hold, and she is forced to return to the village she thought she had left behind for good.
Back in Bergville, Zethu finds herself torn between two contrasting worlds: that of Western medicine and the deeply rooted traditions of African healing. Her path crosses with Sifiso Kubheka, played by multi-award-winning actor Thembinkosi Mthembu.
A police officer by day and traditional healer by night, Sifiso challenges Zethu’s beliefs about love, healing, identity and home.
Producer Lulu Hela expressed her pride in the production.
“Homecoming is a deeply meaningful project for us. The title reflects a return to the places, people and practices that shaped us. At the heart of this story is a powerful conversation between traditional and western medicine, two worlds often seen in opposition. Viewers can expect a rich, character-driven story that challenges, heals, and sparks conversation.”
Viewers can look forward to performances by Sipho Manzin, Khombi Phetla, Mpilo Mbatha, Khayalethu Xaba, and Amahle Khumalo.
Homecoming is set to debut on Mzansi Wethu on Monday, 28 July at 6:30PM.
