Renowned South African DJ and media personality DJ Fresh has shared a moving tribute to his late ex-wife, Thabiso Sikwane, in honour of what would have been her birthday.
“Happy Heavenly Birthday, Thabiso 🎉,” he began, marking the occasion with a touching note of ongoing connection.
DJ Fresh revealed that he and loved ones had celebrated Thabiso’s birthday by visiting her daily prayer spot near the dam, bringing along her favourite treat – cheesecake.
“We had cheesecake at your daily prayer spot by the dam today – your favourite. Hope you didn’t mind us finishing the whole thing without you (again),” he wrote.
“We laughed, we reminisced… and as always, Aunt Ann had epic stories to share about your childhood escapades.”
He went on to express his admiration for Thabiso, writing: “Heaven’s lucky to have you, just don’t charm the angels too much!”
DJ Fresh concluded the tribute on an emotional note: “Happy heavenly birthday, my friend. Keep watching over us.”
Thabiso Sikwane passed away on Saturday, 31 August 2024, at the age of 50. According to reports, she was rushed to hospital on Friday and passed away the following morning.
A respected broadcaster, Thabiso built a successful career in radio, working at various stations including Voice of Soweto, YFM, Kaya FM, SAfm, and Power FM.
She and DJ Fresh were married for 20 years before separating in 2020 and finalising their divorce in 2022.
