Boxing legends Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have reportedly agreed to a blockbuster exhibition bout, with contracts for the highly anticipated contest already signed. The shock announcement, first reported by TMZ Sports, has sent ripples through the boxing world. While a date and location are yet to be confirmed, the fight is expected to take place in the spring of 2026.
Tyson, who recently faced Jake Paul, expressed his disbelief at the upcoming fight.
“I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this,” Tyson stated, “It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening.”
Undefeated champion Mayweather asserted that the fight will be “big and legendary,” and a treat for the fans. “I’m the best in the business of boxing,” he said.
The exhibition bout will bring together two of the sport’s greatest figures, albeit with a significant size difference. Mayweather, a five-division world champion, fought at a maximum of 154lbs, while former two-time heavyweight champion Tyson consistently weighed over 200lbs during his professional career. Tyson weighed 223lbs for his recent exhibition against Jake Paul.
Details regarding weight caps, glove size, and the number of rounds are still to be decided. Despite the lack of confirmed rules, the fight is being hailed as “one of the most significant and compelling boxing events in history.”
The news follows another major exhibition announcement, with Jake Paul set to face Gervonta Davis on 14 November. This match-up also features a considerable size disparity, with Paul recently competing at cruiserweight (200lbs) and Davis being a lightweight (135lbs) champion.
