Health Minister Dr. Zweli Mkhize has called for calm and patience after temporarily suspending the Johnson and Johnson vaccine rollout.
Mkhize says the decision is due to the recommendation of the United States Food and Drug Administration.
The health authority recommended a pause pending an investigation into six reported cases of rare blood clots in patients who received the jabs in the US.
South Africa has inoculated over 289 000 health workers with the vaccine, and no cases of clotting have been reported.
Mkhize hopes the assessment does not result in the complete cancellation of the J&J rollout.
